1961 Irish Green Porsche 356 B T-5 Coupe

1961 Porsche 356B

This very pretty, ready to use, Porsche 356 B Coupe was sold by KURT TANNER MOTORCARS. The car was purchased from a previous owner who acquired the car in restored condition. But, he unfortunately had little time in his life to enjoy it, after which it sat for a few years in storage. Once Kurt Tanner Motorcars purchased it they detailed the vehicle, fitted a new battery, added some fresh fuel and a new ignition switch. The car then started up fine and was in healthy running and driving condition.
The original restoration appears to have included previous underside rust repairs and undercoating, new “glass out” body and paintwork, completely new interior trim including upholstered front and rear leather seats, interior panel kit, painted dashboard, correct headlining, top pad, re-chromed bright work, re-chromed road wheels with new hubcaps and tires, a new windshield, and a new rubber kit.

The car’s paintwork is attractive and glossy, but upon close examination does have a few minor flaws. There are some areas that have lightly lifted under the topcoat, and a couple small spots around the engine compartment where brake fluid may have dripped/splashed from another car. Nonetheless, the car is very nice with the paint being perfectly acceptable for a very nice usable road car. Panel fit is decent to good with all body panels opening and closing well overall.

1961 Porsche 356B Interior

The engine starts easily on the key and sounds very healthy with no smoke or unnecessary noises. Oil level is clean and up to the mark. The engine unit looks very clean overall with a good chance of it being rebuilt. It is fitted with a new set of  Weber carburetors and modern air filters. It pulls nicely through it’s 4-speed gearbox with good syncromesh action. When the brakes have warmed up the car stops well. The car tracks very nice and in a straight line with the steering wheel perfectly centered.

Overall, this attractive, approachable, and very usable Porsche 356 B Coupe is was well-priced offering for the enthusiast/driver. It had been cosmetically restored to a decent standard and if taken care of, should be enjoyed for many years to come.
